It's time once again for the Jam of the Week! Now, for those 5 people that read this blog, you may remember I promised a song on Christmas day. Sadly, in the hustle and bustle of the holiday week, I was unable to post it. I apologize for my tardiness, but I really wanted to share this song with people, because it's such a well written and pretty song. The song is Christmas Time by the Smashing Pumpkins from the compilation album A Very Special Christmas Vol. 3.
Now I know what you're thinking... Smashing Pumpkins? Alt Rock? Is this just like the Kinks, with a very fast version of a Christmas tune?
Nay, Ebenezer! Don't talk smack on punk covers! Tis the final breathe of the Christmas season, so I think it's appropriate to end with a newer ( relatively, it was recorded in 1997 ), traditional sounding Christmas song. It's a beautiful song, showing the skiill, lyrical and song writing capabilities of the Pumpkins and Billy Corgan. They were so good they could write a Christmas song and it was great. Thems were the days.
So, enjoy all your new goodies from Santa and listen to this final (I know you're grateful for it) Christmas song of the year.
Happy Holidays, bitches.
